My Pregnancy Week 27

Brought to you by
Pregnancy Week 27

Your baby continues to grow and develop inside of you. Measuring about 14.5 inches long, he weighs just about 2 pounds. This week, his brain is developing quickly. His eyelids, which have remained closed up until this point, begin to open and now his retinas can begin to form. The retina contains specialized photoreceptor cells that respond to light, called rods and cones. Cones in particular help us perceive color.

Her skin is still wrinkly; but by 27 weeks, she basically looks how she will look when you give birth to her – in just a few months!

  1. Rebekah says:

27weeks! So yesterday i almost passed out. Just standing with some friends outside talking…felt lightheaded…then thought too myself “this isn’t going away..say something.” so i did. “I feel weird!” they grabbed me and sat me down and went and got my hubby. The feeling went away after a couple minutes. And i feel fine today but what a weird feeling. Never in my life has that happened. Dr says no worries lol. Ok. Keep hydrated and eat iron more. I have a friend with epilepsy and i wonder if that’s what she feels when she’s having one. Scary.

  2. Gillian says:

27 weeks and I have a very active boy. So excited!! Sleeping a challenge as I get sore hips and shooting tummy pains when I turn. Iron levels low even though I’m taking Autrin and trying to eat as much Spinach, broccoli, oats, wheat germ as possible. Not to mention the constipation. Any advise on what else to try to raise my iron levels??

We are in the same boat. I’m 27 weeks pregnant also, my hips have been killing me too. I was always a little sleeper before the pregnancy it is worse now. I have the same stomach pain when I turned to my other side. I’m caring a little kicker, and he kicks days and nights. No sleep for me…lol. don’t worry Kyleen you’re not the only one. Hope it gets better for you.

  9. kyleen says:

Im 27 weeks and can hardly sleep at night. I start out on my left side and when my hips really starts to hurt from the pressure to turn to my right side. Here is the problem, when I go to turn I have really bad pains across my stomach. No matter how slow or fast I try to move it hurts. Anyone else have any problems like this? Its vice versa as well, well to go to turn back to my left side the same thing happens.

    • Victoria says:

I have the same problem and I have found that if I sleep sitting up with a pillow under my legs and two behind my back for a little while the pain subsides and I can lay back down. No matter what direction, changing position hurts. If he is awake and notices that I am struggling to get comfortable my husband will help me roll over. What a guy!

    • Same thing happens to me. I also tried moving slower/faster and it still hurts. I’m not sure what to make of it.

  10. Nancy says:

  12. There is nothing to be worried about everyone feels this way but I’ve thing I have learn is that moment that they give you your child for the first time you will definitely know what to do it will come so natural to you. Only thing I can tell you is hang in there try everything for your child and the rest will be just fine. Good luck mommy and congratulation.

    • If you’re worried about what you’re feeling, you should call your doctor. It’s possible to feel baby moving low during the end of your pregnancy, but again – if you’re nervous, call the doctor.

      • crystal says:

My baby boy is still breach and sits on my bladder i feel him move all the time. I have had two ultra sounds and everything is fine he just hasn’t turned yet. I am not worried because he is so active that some times i feel he does flip and i feel him kick by my belly button. Then he gets ready to relax and he is right back on my bladder. So i wouldn’t be too concerned. This is my third son. Tho my youngest is 22 yrs old lol. But idf your that worried i would call your dr and discuss your concerns with him/her. Maybe request a additional ultra sound to make sure everything is all right.
